this is me...

Hi, welcome to my website.

I am Zahara Mat Isa, editor of the Zashomebakers’ kitchen. My education backgrounds are ICT and culinary arts. I left my ICT job as a system analyst in 2001 and enrolled myself in local school of tourism and hospitality, in culinary arts.

Since then, cooking and baking becomes my passion. Spent short years in college, learnt only basics in culinary. I compel myself in culinary arts by reading, testing new recipes and learn from others.

The book, “professional cooking and baking” is my guide. Thru’ the cable tv(ASTRO); Asians Food Channel and Travel & Living, fires my inspiration. Each program, the chef and the food journalists have their unique ideas and possess vast experiences in the field.

My favorite programs; Sugar (anna olson), Chef at Home, Chef At Large, Chef Abroad; Anthony Bourdain, Chefs’ story, New Scandinavian Cooking, Return To River Cottage, Food Guide To Australia, Taste Of New Zealand, How To Cook Everything.

Restaurant Makeover and Opening Soon also inspire my life. Besides that, The Oprah Winfrey Shows, is also part of the ingredients in making a good life.

With all this essential ingredients (knowledge), I realized that I need to explore my own heritage; food and culture and share with friends around the world, ‘The traditional malay cuisine’, which present in Malay homes and food outlets.

In the ‘simple meal section’, are collections of tested recipes including baking items dedicated for Asian viewers. Most ingredients can be found locally. You are welcome to send me your great recipes and I will publish it, with your initial on it.
